Care Guide
Over time your jewellery will begin to tarnish due to exposure to the air, perfumes, moisturisers and oils in your skin. To maintain your jewellery’s original finish it’s best to give it a clean from time to time to prevent a build up of tarnish which can be harder to clean.
Silver Dip
If they need a spruce up, pop them in silver dip for a few seconds and wash in cool soapy water. Rinse thoroughly in cool water and dry with a soft cloth or a hairdryer on cold. Ensure any semi-precious stones aren’t dipped. This is a good method for either polished or satin finished jewellery.
Polishing Cloth
You can also clean polished surfaces or chains with a silver polishing cloth. Wrap the cloth around the chain and pull it through the cloth to bring the shine back.
Bicarbonate of Soda
For a quick and more eco friendly method place your jewellery in a non metallic bowl with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, a ball of tin foil and cover with boiling water. Once clean, rinse and dry with a soft cloth. This is also a good method for either polished or satin finished jewellery.
For those pieces that need a little more attention please get in touch. I will be happy to give them a freshen up for free. If more work is required or a piece needs replating I can provide a quote.
Storage
When you’re not wearing your jewellery, the best way to protect it from tarnishing is keeping it in a dry (ideally airtight) place.
